1. Description Includes new bedroom furniture meshes I made for use as a modder's resource. The set contains: canopy double beds (with and without curtains), bedside table, wardrobe, dresser, mirror and bookcases (short and tall). It comes in 4 wood colors; Oak, Mahogany, Bethesda Middle Class and Bethesda Upper Class. The bedcovers are in Bethesda upper class red or green. This is a modder's resource only, but if you want to view the furniture in game I have included a sample .esp file for testing purposes. (Before testing via the console, please make sure you have a prior saved game backed up first, just in case). After loading up the included .esp, type one of these commands into the console and press enter:
coc BedDisplayRoomOak
This will take you to different rooms with each wood color. Fast travel to leave the rooms. |
2. Known Bugs/Issues
Bedside table placement - When you place the bedside tables, please leave some space between it and the furniture marker of the beds (like in the following picture). If the table clips with the furniture marker, it will prevent NPC's from using the bed.
Bed roof collision - I purposely left the collision off of the canopy bed roofs. Most animation mods that make characters sit or lay on the bed require you to stand on top of it first. I had to make sure the collision would not get in the way. Mirror - please note that real reflections are not possible on statics with the Oblivion game engine. Instead, the mirror uses a reflective effect like the game's windows and glass armor. You will need to have window reflections turned on in your game settings for it to look shiny. The effect is not perfect and can look weird at times. Tip: If the mirror surface appears too bright white or has a weird horizon line, switch it to another wall facing a different direction or move your placed light farther away from the mirror.
Poly count - Here is the poly count of all furniture. I did not have any FPS problems during testing with my 2 year old PC and newer graphics card. 3. Re-texturing Tips
For the plain wood parts of the furniture, any 512x512 wood texture with the grain running horizontally will work well. The carved wood parts (like doors, drawers, headboard and footboard) all share the same texture that is made up of 9 carved wood squares. If you stay within the boundaries of those 9 squares, any new texture should line up. The bed curtains share the same texture as the bedcover. The side curtains are mapped to the center of the bedcover texture, whereas the roof curtains are mapped to the bedskirt area. I would recommend using the layout of the original Bethesda bedcover texture as a guide if you make a new texture for bedcover/curtains. 4. Credits/Usage
